The NHS have failed me massively

Some people are having to wait more than two years for mental health treatment after they have been referred by a GP, according to a World at One survey of NHS trusts. More than half of the trusts in the country replied to a Freedom of Information request and this programme found there is a postcode lottery across England with large variations in the delays faced for care.

Andrea Wade is 24 and from Blackpool. She was diagnosed with depression and anxiety when she was just 11 years old, but has not needed specialist support for the last couple of years. In August 2017 her mental health started to decline and she was referred to specialist mental health services. She was told she would need to wait six months to see a psychiatrist. Andrea told the World at One about her struggle to get support.

You see the photo of such a pretty girl - for example twiitter: https://twitter.com/its0kaytotalk - and you'd never imagine someone so nice could suffer as she appears to ...

Thoughts?

The fact is we collectively don't have a fucking clue what we're doling when it comes to treating mental health.

The best hope anyone suffering from mental health issues has is to thoroughly research their own symptoms along with being honest about the root causes of those symptoms and turn up to their GP / health professional with a self-diagnosis along with suggested treatment.

If you rely on the medical professionals to come to their own conclusions it's a scatter gun approach that often causes more problems than it solves.

Excellent post. Also worth noting that unfortunately mental health care does not appear to be a priority for funding by this government.

Though I suppose truthfully that I didn't hardly expected it to be cared for by a government who are primarily interested in big business and making sure their rich friends are OK... Sad-smiley
