Blackpool reconsider interest in Blades star Stephen Quinn

Quote:BLACKPOOL are considering whether to resurrect their interest in Sheffield United’s Stephen Quinn, sources close to the Championship club confirmed last night.

Ian Holloway attempted to sign Quinn on the eve of last season but his offer was dismissed as “derisory” by coaching staff at Bramall Lane.

However, despite that spat, relations remain cordial between officials at Bloomfield Road and their counterparts in South Yorkshire.

Although Quinn, described by manager Danny Wilson as “one of the most technically gifted footballers in the division” before the recent League One play-off final with Huddersfield Town, has no desire to force a move, United’s failure to join Blackpool in the second tier next term could alter his stance.

Wilson, speaking before last month’s defeat at Wembley, admitted the outcome of United’s bid for promotion would influence the make-up of the squad set to undertake a pre-season tour of Malta shortly.

He would prefer the influential 26-year-old to stay but is aware the introduction of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play system means United must part company with several of their high-earners or risk falling foul of the new regulations.

Members of Holloway’s back room staff have forged close links with Wilson and his assistant Frank Barlow.

Blackpool, who allowed Matt Hill, Billy Clarke and Matt Phillips to join United on loan last season, operate under a strict budget but could offer players in return to try and sweeten the deal should they submit a concrete bid.

He will be gone this summer almost definitely. Sheff U dont have a pot to piss in and its only gonna get worse.

He won't sign,we will agree a fee but he will reject the £400 pound a week contract offer.

Be very impressed if we signed him but have a feeling that higher wages might be on offer elsewhere. Good player though.
