Oh and would love Froch vs GG but we all know Carl will bottle that one.

Froch not fighting Golovkin doesn't mean he's "bottling it"

The guy is 37 and has been in enough wars. He's accomplished everything there is to accomplish.

Golovkin isnt a big name outside of boxing circles, the fight wouldn't have nearly the same public interest as his fights with Groves did. It would be a substantial risk fighting the most feared boxer in the world at this stage of Froch's career, and the reward isn't nearly worth it. He'd make more money fighting fucking Chavez Jr, and that guy's a joke.

Froch has fought everyone in his division and has an impressive record of never shirking any challenge. Not fighting Golovkin now shouldn't change that.

RE: Boxing tonight
Andre Ward rematch would be interesting but like foggy says about interest in certain match ups, other than boxing fans and people living in the state's, it probably won't wet the appetite of casual boxing audiences.

Ward doesn't even have a following in the states. The rematch could take place literally in his backyard and Froch would have more fans there.

Mickey Rourke had as many boxing fights as Andre Ward did in 2014.

Golvkin no doubt the real deal but at super Middle I would make Froch favourite even at 37.

Will also knock degale out.

Ward still too good for him though.

Good knockout for Joshua on route to the world title.

Joshua Fight in full if anyone missed it.

The guy is a machine, he's looking absolutely unstoppable. Just devastating.

People comparing him to Tyson already. By the age Joshua is now (25) Tyson had already accomplished all he was to do.
His record after the age of 25 was 9-5 (2); the biggest win being vs Bruno. Mind boggling.

He needs to step up and be challenging for a serious world title this year.

Don't think he's Tyson material yet, trainers and promoters are much more cautious in stepping up young fighters these days in case they have a bad experience and everyone loses their cash cow!

I can definitely see him going all the way though.

His next test will be how he takes a big shot, someone will land one on him at some stage as he steps up. He's built well though and I don't expect he'll do the baby giraffe, Khan-style, but it may give him something to think about.

If he comes through that we're looking at a world champion.

Thing is though, unless he fights a top 5 fighter there is no one to test him. He's already at 6 in the WBC and 7 in the WBO. It's time he went for it, Fury, Wilder or Povetkin then go for Wladimir Klitschko.

That's what I would do, that's what you would do, but I don't think they'll risk him stepping up to that level so fast. He gets knocked out through a lack of experience at that level and suddenly there's less interest in his fights. Less interest = less profit.

I don't consider that level to be that good in all honesty. If he can't beat the likes of Fury now I can't see him going on to rule the division, like people are saying he will.
People will soon start losing interest in him if he just keeps knocking over easy opponents on undercards.

Oh I fully believe he would beat Fury, but the risk level to the promoter is much higher and it may be a risk they don't want to take at this time.

I think he'll have at least 2 more fights before he gets to that level.

Paul Smith faces Andre Ward tonight. Smigger has no chance but I hope he puts in a good performance, he's got a big heart.
He's apparently come in over 4lbs overweight and as a consequence had to give up 20% purse, roughly $15'000.

He came in 4 pounds overweight yesterday and got himself a $30k fine, then at the morning weight in today he was overweight again, costing himself another $15k.

In pounds sterling thats 38 grand lost out of his 140 grand purse. What a fucking waste, and for no reason. There is no reason at all he shouldn't be making weight, he's moved up ffs. It's embarrassing really and stinks of unprofessionalism.

He's got nothing to lose and maybe he just doesn't give a shit anymore. But it still begs the question, why let a few pounds of weight cost you so much money? If this is one last fight for the retirement fund, go ahead, as a boxing fan I have no qualms with him taking the fight even though it won't be competitive. I applaud his efforts in the ring and think he deserves one last big pay day.

But why piss away nearly a third of that payday out of laziness?
