RE: General election June 8th
Does this mean that they can reverse the Brexit decision following a General Election? or does the fact we have signed article 50 now mean we are committed to leaving the EU regardless?

Basically as a country we are fucked it appears

edit: "no turning back" so we are leaving regardless of a general election

It's a cynical move. She knows she'll win so it gives her carte blanche to do what she likes during the Brexit negotiations and remain in power for the crucial 2 years after we leave.

It's all a load of bollocks. It should be every 5 years and not before.
She'll win this by a landslide as labour are weak at the moment.

Interesting that Lib Dems straight on the case saying they can influence change but nothing from Corbyn yet - like you say a shrewd move as it will ensure a proper elected 5 year term for May.

Corbyn's just spoken. They're backing the election.

I think a lot hinges on Labour's policy regarding Brexit, I wouldn't eliminate Labour like some quite yet.

Anyway have the goalposts been moved because a few years back we had an act of parliament that resulted in a fixed term for a government, the idea being that a snap election could not then take place.

I was under that impression too.

You're right Whits it requires a vote in parliament to overturn the fixed-term - I'm sure everyone will vote for it though - gives every party a chance to at least have a go at getting in

Edit to add the vote is tomorrow and they require 2/3rds majority to agree to it

Sad really, Corbyn has polices that most of the public agree with. Unfortunately he hasn't got a chance. Imagine thinking the likes of May, Hammond, Johnson, Hunt and co will represent the ordinary man better than Corbyn. Ffs.
I suppose it was inevitable with all the shit about Brexit. Sadly this will see off Corbyn and the Blairites will rubbing their greasy palms. Cunts.

RE: General election June 8th
Bally, stranger things have happened in the past when it comes to a general election, who thought back in 1945 with Churchill leading the war effort and the victory after all those years over Germany would just a few months later lose the general election with a landslide victory to Labour, that result caught a good few napping at the time.

As I said earlier today, don't write Labour off just yet, the Conservatives are taking a gamble which could come back to bite them in the arse

I am still of the opinion that the majority of MP's are not in favour of leaving Europe, only UKIP are the true leavers and many of these will return to their original parties in a general election, making the outcome much less predictable than what is currently expected.
