Hello folks, just testing the waters here and I am mindful of the traditional difficulty in arranging BHS get togethers, but would there be any interest in a BHS golf day for April / May?

Second round of the year today at Temple Newsam - he's only gone and smashed it - 97 which is my first sub-100 round.

Have some of that you doubters, I'm a gnat's cock away from joining the tour and a couple of years away from my first major.

Boom.

My handicap has also been slashed to 24.

I can only assume that you're using an acronym, and that you're too lazy to actually type "Magnificently Excellent Hole-ing" yourself.

That's OK, I understood.

Who does your handicap? I thought you had to play in a comp to get your handicap down or up?

I have an online thingy that calculates it properly based on submitted scorecards. It doesn't have to be a comp to affect your handicap I don't think.

It probably wouldn't stand if you joined a golf club and started playing in comps. When I played you had to submit 3 cards and your handicap was an average of the 3 cards compared to the scratch par for the course. I think you would still be around about a 28

97, nice one.

Ger, there are a lot of apps that will calculate a "handicap for you" but yes you need to be a member of a club to bet a proper CONGU handicap.
A round of 97, would workout at an initial handicap of between 23 and 25 depending on the Standard Scratch Score

I believe it's my round anyway, Louise, do you fancy a game this week / next?

RE: Magic's golfing escapades
The BHS golf group gained a new member today as Magic, Me and Leesthedaddy played at Bury Golf club.
Magic played ok but not quite to sub 100 standard, Lee was rusty as it was his first game for 3 years, but hit some nice shots and parred the last 2 holes. I played decently until I got on the greens where I must have dropped 7 or 8 shots.
It stayed dry although was a tad cold. Just spoiled a bit by 4 members holding us up all the way round.

Had a top afternoon with Pete n Lou today.
It’s nice to see somebody else is capable of hacking a course up on occasions.
Considering the years it been for me, add to that I was always shit anyway, I’m somewhat satisfied with a 114.
Three X 9 & One X 10 shot hole in there too.
