Ossett's Football Clubs To Merge
http://nonleague.pitchero.com/news/osset...set-merge/

This has not gone down too well with some people in the non-league community (such as Tony Incenzo), but could it be a good idea if it keeps football in the area going if one (or both) clubs are struggling financially?

Latest news - it's Ossett United for the new season:

Means a reprieve at Step 4 as well.

Surprised they haven’t cashed in on Towns ground. They should do well because there is no decent sized Club in nearby Wakefield. So if they suddenly become successful they have a nice crowd pulling area.

Leeds is only a stones throw, 6/7 miles.

Wakefield is the biggest City in England not to have a professional football team.Leeds 10 miles away by the way.

I think that there was a team playing at Wakefield Wildcat's in the NCEL a few years ago?

Either way, you are right - Wakefield and Castleford are dominated by Rugby League. When I went to Glasshoughton Welfare for a game a few years ago, the crowd barely numbered 30!

Emley played at Trinity and were within a whisker of promotion to the Football League at one point. They changed their name to incorporate Wakefield at one point to generate interest but to no avail. Eventually they moved back to Emley.
