Old School New School, Imperial Metric
I’ve put a post up on FB about me joining the Gym tonight & said my target was to lose about 11 KG,
My goal is to become sub 100Kg in 3 months & a pall of mine thinks I should be in Lbs.
I’ve C & P my answer to him below as I thought it may be good to get others thought on this one.

I’m 39 years old BTW as I’m sure that age may be a factor in people’s responses.

Thoughts???

I used to always convert KG to Lbs so that I knew what it really meant but over the past few years, I’ve begun using KG.
The scales at the DW are KG but when you convert using online calculators they are wrong. They mix old school with decimal. For example, 16.9 stone is not 16 stone 9 Lbs, it’s 16 full stone & 90 % of another so that’s about 16 stone 12 & a tad Lbs if my maths are correct?
It always bugged me that did.

We have weighing equipment at work for machines that weigh in KG & a few of us regularly monitor ourselves using them & over the years of doing so, I’ve just gotten used to KG as the reference point we use.

I’m definitely converted now, if I got a St & Lbs reading I would convert to KG.

The only one left now is Miles, I always convert KM to miles as I’m not instantly sure how fast or far it actually is.

I wonder if humanity will ever decimalise time?
Seriously, I’ve always thought it & I believe it will happen within the next few generations, it has to.

Fuck me you're only a year older than me?!

Anyway, have to agree with your first statement. Stones and pounds for personal weight, but food I understand in grams and kilos.

We use metres at work but even though I've been there for years I still think in feet and inches. Miles for long distance obviously.

They’ve taught metric in school since the 1970s . I work in construction. Metric!
Only daily Mail readers want imperial. Fucking ridiculous having a split measuring system.
You’ll all want diphtheria to come back next

If someone says 67 inches, I don’t instantly visualise it I have to eather do the 12 times table or convert it but if someone said 1,845mm I know strait away roughly what that looks like.

No I’m not saying 67” is 1,845mm, it’s just an example.

I worked with older joiners who refused to use metric. As I got older I’d piss them off by mixing.
Three feet and 56mm when giving them a size to cut.
Guaranteed to get a sulky response

I’ve got 12 inches. Is that a foot or just a cock worth bragging about?

Don’t worry about my wife, you just focus on getting that Mullet tamed for your upcoming jolly.
