Looking at he positives, Southgate has produced a side that can at least give a game against the best in the world, even with the Premiership having a large percentage of foreign players, a point that has often been made in the past.
I see we had the third youngest team in the tournament, the experience they have shared in the past few weeks will be invaluable and bodes well for the European event in two years and the next World Cup.

Unfortunately it is now obvious that we need a different set of midfielders. The ones in this WC have created nothing. It's no coincidence that the big punt up the pitch for Sterling to chase was the most used attacking option. I don't believe that that tactic is Southgates preferred option but given the players at his disposal he had little choice. Other than the wing backs KT and AY no one looked like giving any service to Kane.
The fact that Kane and Alli do so well for Spurs shows the value of having a player like Erikson in the side. Which England didn't have.

I’m absolutely gutted today. We snatched defeat from the jaws of victory!
I really felt that this was our year and that the long struggle was over. In my view, we have 10/15 years to win something or else we never will.

I don’t think I can watch the final on Sunday now.

Will be flying so I won't have the pleasure. The third place play off match will be another Belgium reserves v England reserves.

Football doesn't exist for me now until Oyston dies or fucks off.

Belgium and England are playing for 2 million dollars on Saturday, the winner gets 24 million and loser gets 22 million dollars. So in effect there is nothing to play for, bar the bit of prestige that coming 3 rd means but who remember,s the third and fourth placings of a World Cup?

I'm not sure I'll even watch the final or the stupid 3rd place crap. If I'm around then maybe, but if I've got anything else going on I'll check for the results later.

I'm looking forward to the final. Not writing Croatia off either.

Southgate got his subs wrong last night, Sterling was our only attacking threat and we had no outlet once he went off as Kane was having an awful game. Lingard and Alli should have both gone before Sterling did. Rashford is massively overhyped too.

Kane scores that one on one 99 times out of 100 and, unfortunately, bottled it when we needed him most. Other than the Colombia game where he was immense, his overall play has been shocking and he's still gonna win the golden boot!

Trippier our player of the tournament closely followed by Pickford, Maguire and Henderson.

Btw Seasider, Pickford went with the correct hand against Belgium. When you dive, you can reach higher with your top hand. Try it, lean to one side and reach both arms above your head. My brother is a keeper in your academy and has been at North End, Liverpool and Blackburn and everywhere he has been they teach you to go with the top hand.

I take an optimistic view. If Germany (BOTTOM of group) and Spain (my original wagers to win it), to name but two, went out early it was because there was better talent and organization elsewhere. Just because Croatia, Belgium, Sweden and Japon haven't won the world cup (yet) it doesn't make them second tier sides. It would be hard to emphasise that England didn't deserve to be in the semi-final, judging by all the matches I saw, so if they're there on merit they're now consequently one of the BIG footballing nations on this planet. They deserve a great reception ....

I understand that logic but because he went with that hand he dived too early. I am no keeper so I'm not the best judge. It just looked all wrong. Anyway, enough has been said on the matter and he had a great tournament overall.

If England went out in the group stage none of us would hesitate about watching the final. It's just very fresh but it has to be done. Enjoy one last big match (hope for a better one than the last two finals) and let the Oyston shit return on Monday.

Agreed. You’re also right about Germany and Spain.

I’d lump on those two for the Euro’s. There’s no way they’ll allow an embarrassment like that again.

I think both those sides will have to rebuild straight away. Germany could well just right off the euros to be ready for the next World Cup
