RE: Films thread
Last film I watched was This is 40 (Mrs c's choice obviously). It was bleedin awful. A romantic comedy with zero comedy - 2/10.

Been watching a few recently - Django Unchained - 9/10, Silver Linings Playbook - 8/10, End of Watch - 6/10, Ted - 4/10, House at the End of the Street 3/10, Life of Pi - 4/10.

It takes a lot these days to impress me. Probably because I'm a grumpy old git.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

I watched this after the good reviews on IMDB, but it bored me if being honest.

6/10

I watched Silver Linings Playbook and House at the end of the street yesterday.

Silver Linings surprised me as I was expecting a torrid chick flick. Pretty good.

House' is just a run of the mill slasher film.

Also watched recently that I would recommend:

Lincoln (but only if the history interests you)
Flight (OK)
Dredd (Surprisingly good)
John Carter (Got blasted by critics but I thought a reasonable action film and now has a cult following)
She's out of my league (Pretty funny)

In the States at the moment and watched three films on the plane over:

The Master - I was really looking forward to this. If you can make it through the first hour, it's alright at best. Will never watch it again.

Argo - amazing. Just amazing. Won an Oscar, totally deserved. I've read reviews saying that its just 'alright' but it totally worked for me. If you like to think, watch it. Alan Arkin is, as always, sublime.

Hitchcock - good fun. You can't not enjoy it but forgettable fluff.

Not seen any of those films. Argo has an 8 out 10 on IMDB so obviously a good one!

I want to go see Stoker at the Cinema.

Glad I've been warned about how average The Master is. It is on my watch list and life is too short for crap movies.

I watched Chocolat again last weekend ..it was on cable and I was dying on the sofa. Superb in every way.

Anyone seen Ted? ..the one with the bear.

I've got a copy saved and not watched yet.

RE: Films thread
cheers Rag ... it's amazing how much time and money is wasted on producing shit or below average films.

Great movies are so rare...and subjective I suppose.

Director Terrence Malick...Badlands is brilliant, walks into my top ten and then the same bloke directs nothing but waffling shit for decades and is considered a genius.
